Fine paper prices continue on the upward trend in Germany

Prices for woodfree coated and uncoated prices are still rallying on the German market. The rally continues against the background of high demand and scant supply. The situation is not expected to ease any time soon.

Industry players and market experts are warning that paper will continue to become more expensive. Some paper producers are preparing additional price increases for the second quarter, and some companies have already taken this step.

Sources in the printing industry fear that these spiralling costs will put too much of a strain on the printing market, especially as a variety of premiums, notably for energy, are pushing costs higher. However, some buyers said that they were willing to pay "any price" as long as they received enough paper.

Printers and merchants are therefore urging the paper industry to deliver more paper in order to meet actual demand.
