Fraser Papers plans to emerge from creditor protection. The company announced on 3 December that it has filed a restructuring plan with the appropriate Canadian and US courts. On 20 December, the companies’ creditors will vote on the plan.
A key component of the restructuring plan is a commitment from Brookfield Asset Management, Fraser Papers largest shareholder, to purchase the company’s remaining assets through the acquisition of its US subsidiaries and by continuing to provide a debtor-in-possession financing for Fraser Papers during its implementation.
