German kraft sack paper prices up

Against the background of good operating rates and strong demand on European markets prices for kraft sack paper in Germany rose in June or July.

As could be foreseen already in June, price hikes for kraft sack paper in Germany turned out to be fully successful throughout the market, manufacturers told EUWID. Converters also confirmed that prices have been raised with effect from 1 July in cases where there have been no hikes in June. Manufacturers of kraft sack paper experienced exceptionally good operating rates also in the third quarter of 2012. Demand from Europe is still very high, it is learnt, even converters in Italy still report relatively high operating rates. Fears that deliveries would slump because of the euro crisis have so far not come true.

With October approaching, manufacturers are getting ready for the traditionally weakest quarter of the year although they are not expecting quieter business than usual. Prices will not see many changes again this year, manufacturers and converters concur.
