The German paper sack industry is setting course for the implementation of new European Union requirements. In particular, the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) are having an impact on the industry, writes the association of paper sack industries (Gempsi) in mid-July.
“Association members are preparing intensively to implement the new regulatory requirements: There is currently a lot of uncertainty, as some secondary legislation is still pending and practical implementation offers some room for interpretation,” explains Gempsi managing director Karsten Hunger. “We are following the legislation very closely to ensure that customers in the German paper sack industry will continue to receive packaging that complies with the law.”...
