Producers of primary and recycled fibre-based MG kraft paper have been reporting calm ordering activity since the end of the fourt quarter 2022 and demand for lighweight paper continued on the cautious side in the first month of the new year. Final consumers were reportedly still reluctant to spend and order, not least because they still have high stocks. Against the background of weaker demand and good paper availability, especially of brown kraft paper grades, converters are increasing the pressure on paper producers to lower their prices. Nevertheless, prices hardly changed from December to January on the market in Germany....
