Ongoing supply shortages and resurgent exports of European recovered paper to send prices climbing in February?

As expected, prices for mass recovered paper grades stayed the same in Germany as the new year dawned. However, rising prices are already on the cards for February, according to EUWID sources.

Many market players expect February to usher in mark-ups for mixed paper and board (1.02), supermarket corrugated paper and board (1.04) and used corrugated kraft II (4.03). A few sources reported markedly weaker arisings, while others said that collection volumes were low in keeping with typical seasonal trends. Sources also told EUWID that demand for recovered paper for export to the Far East had strengthened again.
