Intermittent stoppages at UPM Chapelle Darblay

|

Strike action at UPM's Chapelle Darblay mill in France has been causing intermittent production stoppages for roughly two weeks. A spokesman for the Filpac CGT union told EUWID that the machines are being shut down for two hours per week by each of the six work teams. This represents actual downtime of roughly eight hours each when the time for running the machines back up to speed is taken into account. Filpac CGT complains that the company's management has not been fair to the employees in financial terms. The employees are therefore campaigning for better working conditions and higher pay.
