In the run-up to this year’s 76th Frankfurt Book Fair, where Italy was the guest of honour, the Italian publishers association Associazione Italiana Editori (AIE) had presented the latest numbers for the Italian book market. With 900,000 less copies sold in the first half of 2024, total sales revenues stayed virtually the same in a year-on-year comparison. Adjusted for inflation, though, the figures paint a different, much gloomier picture, according to the AIE....
