M-Real has announced plans that would considerably reduce its paper capacities. The company said it planned to divest its Gohrsmühle mill in Germany as well as its French Alizay mill. In case the divestment would not be succesful, the Alizay site as well as the uncoated fine paper and parts of the specialty paper operations at Gohrsmühle mill are to be closed down. The measures also include the closure of the remaining carbonless paper converting operations at the company’s Reflex mill in Germany. M-Real said its plans would result in a capacity reduction of some 500,000 tpy of which about 430,000 tpy would be uncoated fine paper and 70,000 tpy coated specialty papers.
