Barring a few isolated cases, prices for magazine paper in France have been settled, say respondents. Price hikes were only possible in some cases, although the market situation was somewhat more favourable than that of newsprint, manufacturers said. Nevertheless the same factors were at play: Supply and capacity on the Western European market were still too large to allow price increases to be implemented. Furthermore, in this case, the falling pulp and recovered paper prices did not make it any easier to introduce a price mark-up.
