Malaysia will start imports of recovered paper deliveries on 10 January 2022.

State authority Sirim has already announced which procedure would apply to inspections in the future. In principle, a distinction is made between exporters who operate a Sirim-certified approved sorting facility (MRF) and those who do not.

Used cardboard packaging and cardboard boxes as well as wood-free and wood-containing waste paper grades (HS Codes 4707 100, 200 and 300), but no mixed paper, may be imported to Malaysia. The recovered paper will have to meet the quality requirements according to the list of the European standard grades (EN 643).
