Within the past two months, prices on the Polish market for recovered paper have declined sharply. Polish recovered paper merchants therefore often had to accept greater declines than were seen in other European countries. Market participants said this was mostly due to the fact that recovered paper in Poland had been more expensive than elsewhere in the first quarter and beginning of the second quarter of this year. This development, which was initially observed at the end of May when demand from German paper mills dropped, could continue in August, industry experts speculated.
