Sweden’s Södra Cell said it has found a potential buyer for the Folla pulp mill in Follafoss, Norway, which its board decided to sell at the end of August 2012.
The company signed a letter of intent with Mayr-Melnhof Karton for the complete acquisition of Södra Cell Folla. The two parties did not provide any financial details about the transaction.
As a result of Södra’s decision to divest the site, the company will no longer produce any chemi-thermomechanical pulp (CTMP). The plant, with a production capacity of 105,000 tpy of CTMP, is the only Södra site that manufactures this type of pulp. Mayr-Melnhof expects to complete the takeover sometime early in 2013.
