Mercer International has announced the expansion of its Stendal NBSK pulp mill in Germany. The investment project worth €40m includes a new steam turbine and is designed to increase energy and pulp production capacity at the site, says Mercer. The annual pulp capacity at Stendal facilty is to be raised by 30,000 t to 675,000 air-dried tonnes. Mercer also expects the project to deliver additional €7.5m in renewable energy revenues. The pulp mill expansion is scheduled for completion in September 2013.
