After having been sold to investment company Perusa, the former Stora Enso mill in Uetersen will soon start to produce the full range of coated woodfree papers with focus on heavyweight papers.

With this measure the company wants to become profitable again, says Christoph Höfener, managing director of investment company Perusa GmbH. On 12 December, Perusa signed an agreement with Stora Enso for the sale of the Uetersen mill.

The mill has two paper machines with an overall capacity of 240,000 tpy of papers. During the past few years the mill focussed on the production of coated specialty papers for labels and flexible packaging and offered only small quantities of coated illustration printing paper and board.

The mill’s manager Mr. Rajcsanyi said he believed the mill, which was formerly known as Feldmühle, would be able to become profitable within the next 24 months. He added that at the moment no investments in new machinery were necessary because existing machinery was in good shape. Perusa would rather invest in sales capacities and overhead functions that had been provided by Stora Enso before.
