Negotiations to hammer out newsprint prices for the second half of the year are in full swing in the UK. Manufacturers had initially hoped to raise prices by £30-40, but in mid-June market players noted that talks were revolving around hikes of £25. Sizeable orders have not been placed to date, only a small number of contracts have apparently already been inked. Quite a few manufacturers noted, however, that talks were already at an advanced stage, with the UK likely to become again one of the early birds in wrapping up negotiations.
