Paper manufacturer attempt to increase prices on UK paper and board markets

|

Facing pressure due to high production costs, producers in all market segments in the UK observed by EUWID have called for price hikes, but the results were varied so far.

In the publication paper market, higher prices for newsprint will reportedly take effect as of the third quarter, but in late June, it was still unclear whether there would be an increase for magazine papers.

Unchanged prices are reported on the market for woodfree printing and writing paper, but producers want to try again to lift prices in July.

Manufacturers of corrugated case material have the same intention, after concluding their May price round in June at the latest. If they get their way, prices would rise once again in July.

On the cartonboard market, producers will be discussing higher prices in the near future for GC board. In June, price quotes for GC as well as for GD board were usually stable on last month.

The full report will be published in this week's issue, which will be available as ePaper from tomorrow.
