Papeterie du Doubs was not able to solve its financial problems and is now in liquidation. However, a Lebanese company intends to take over the paper manufacturer and restart packaging paper production in September.
French manufacturer of recycled packaging paper Papeterie du Doubs is in liquidation. Eric Gravier, the company’s deputy managing director, told EUWID that all operations were ceased on 22 May and the workforce was made redundant. However, negotiations with a Lebanese company which may take over the company’s site and operations are ongoing. The offer is currently being examined and a decision is expected for the end of June
Mr Gravier could not yet disclose the name of the potential suitor. However, the business area will remain the same which means that the mill is expected to continue production of packaging paper. Production is planned to be restarted this September, Mr Gravier said. The new owner of the mill would gradually re-hire all previous employees in case of a takeover. Plans of the Lebanese company also include an investment in the improvement of paper quality for next year. More details will be disclosed in due time.
