New stock preparation equipment is part of Papresa's conversion programm towards packaging papers.

Spain's newsprint manufacturer Papresa tapped Voith to deliver a complete stock preparation system for the company's mill in Rentería, Spain. The new OCC stock preparation plant has a capacity of 700 tonnes per day and is scheduled for start-up in the last quarter of 2021, according to Voith. "The scope of supply is completed by a multi-year service agreement for services and consumables," Voith announced.

"This project marks the first milestone of our company’s ambitious investment and development plan [...]. The decision to execute a conversion program towards the growing products for packaging will expand our product portfolio offering, especially towards the Asian market. We also aim to grow our sales network in Europe," Miguel Sánchez, President & CEO of PAPRESA is quoted as saying.

Papresa was acquired by Quantum Capital Partners last summer. Under the new ownership, Papresa intends to reduce newsprint capacity and converts part of the production to recycled corrugated case material.
