Converters and GC board manufacturers in Poland alike were caught by surprise by a leading Finnish producer's announcement of plans to charge more for virgin-fibre board throughout Europe from 1 July. After all, the Polish board market had lost momentum in April and May. In keeping with the overall trend in Europe, deliveries had fallen by as much as double-digit amounts compared with the same period of time last year, one supplier told EUWID. Virgin-fibre board was readily available in May.
