The German recovered paper market has entered the new year without any major movement.
Prices for the mass grades mixed paper (1.02) and supermarket corrugated paper and board (1.04) have remained largely unchanged in January. Only isolated reports from the paper industry point to further slight price reductions. Market participants attribute the unusual January stability to relatively low collection volumes, better-than-expected offtake from the paper industry, and increasing export activity.
Supply and demand for sorted graphic paper for deinking (1.11) remain in balance at a low level, meaning that prices are mostly stable. There has likewise been little movement in prices for the medium and higher recovered paper and board grades.
That said, individual market players report price reductions for coloured letters and multi printing. By contrast, others expect occasional, slight price increases.
