Russia is an important wood supplier and has now banned wood exports to certain countries. This will primarily affect the Finnish industry.
By decree no. 313 on 8 March 2022, the Russian government imposed a ban on exports of various wood products provisionally applicable until 31 December. Decree no. 313 applies to all wood products with the customs tariff numbers 4401 21 and 4401 22 (woodchips), 4403 (raw wood), and 4408 (veneer). Customs tariff number 4407 (sawn softwood) is not included in the ban yet.
The export ban applies to 48 countries labelled as “unfriendly”....
