SCA plans to spend SEK540m to upgrade the Munksund kraftliner machine and the soda recovery boiler. About SEK400m are to be spent on the paper machine that currently has an annual capacity of 360,000 t of kraftliner and white top kraftliner. After the upgrade, the 7.5m-wide machine is expected to produce about 415,000 t per year. The remaining SEK140m will be invested in a new pressure vessel for the soda recovery boiler to enhance heat recovery.
SCA did not provide a definite time schedule for the work, yet, but all upgraded equipment is expected to be operational during 2013, the company announced.
