A severe shortage of material is shaping the Italian recovered paper market at present. Market players contacted by EUWID agreed that not very much recovered paper is available at present and that collection volumes had further declined be-tween January and February.
As a result, prices for mixed paper and board, supermarket paper and board and old corrugated containers (OCC) all edged higher again on the Italian market in February. Suppliers and buyers alike reported total mark-ups of up to €20. Sev-eral market players felt that the supply shortage had met with strong domestic demand. Paper manufacturers' inventories were low and flourish-ing export business meant that a great deal of re-covered paper was being taken away from the Italian market.
