The newly founded company Silphie Paper intends to resume paper production on one of the three machines at the Lenningen paper mill of the insolvent Papierfabrik Scheufelen.
The new company - which retained 26 of the Scheufelen's 100 workers - was set up as a research and development firm with a focus on alternative raw materials and paper grades. Silphie Paper plans to use the eponymous "Silphium perfoliatum" and other annual and perennial crop plants to partially substitute wood pulp as raw material in paper production.
Operation is scheduled to start in the first half of 2020.
