Strikes in Finland are having first effects on the country’s pulp and paper production

There is currently no end in sight for the strikes at Finnish ports that started on 15 February and the first effects are becoming visible now. Some paper and board plants of major Finnish players have curtailed production.

Finland’s three largest players are UPM, Stora Enso and Metsä Group. The forestry sector is of vital importance to the Finnish economy, accounting for more than 19 per cent, or €13.2bn, of the country’s export value in 2021....
