UK recovered paper market weaker than expected in August

In August, activity at the British recovered paper was lower than expected with weak demand from all markets.

The UK recovered paper market was "extremely difficult”, say several players surveyed by EUWID at the end of August. It was now much tougher to move material than is typical at this time of year, they say.

Demand from all markets – in the UK, Europe and Asia – was weak and there was little optimism that the situation will improve soon, all players agree. As a result, prices declined further, especially for packaging grades.

For the other grades of recovered paper, it looks like their upward price trend  has at least stalled.

You will also find the full report and price watch in our E-Paper, which will be available here from Wednesday, together with a report on the German and British paper and board markets.
