Wepa to install new tissue machine in Poland

The Wepa group continues to invest in the expansion and the modernisation of its plants in Europe. The company will add 32,000 tpy of tissue capacity to the market by installing a new machine in Poland.

German tissue paper and products manufacturer Wepa Group has announced the intention to install a new tissue machine at its Piechowice mill in Poland. The foundation stone was laid on 10 March. Toscotec was awarded the contract to install the TM which is scheduled to start up in the first quarter of 2017. Wepa put the investment sum for the construction of the new plant at €30m.

The new machine will have a width of 2.8 m and run at a maximum speed of 2,200 m/min. According to Wepa, the TM will have a capacity of 32,000 tpy of super soft toilet paper, amongst others, and will be able to handle virgin pulp as well as recycled fibre as a raw material. The measure would raise the number of employees at the site from 380 to 400, said Wepa.
