The venue is located in one of the regions most affected by coronavirus in Germany, organisers say.

In close co-operation with the Bvse presidency and its executive committee paper recycling the organisers of the 23rd International Recovered Paper Conference (Bvse-Altpapiertag) decided to cancel the event, which was scheduled for 19 March in Düsseldorf, Germany. The risks of the not yet controlled spread of the coronavirus in Germany and Europe and the associated travel restrictions have prompted the management to take this step. Furthermore, the conference venue is located in North Rhine-Westphalia, currently the most affected federal state in Germany, and the Maritim Hotel is internationally frequented due to the airport connection.

Next year's edition of the International Recovered Paper Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, 21 April 2021 in Düsseldorf, Germany.

In addition, the organisers of the IFAT trade fair in Munich, Germany, decided to postpone the event to September this year. The event, one of the largest gatherings for the global environmental services and technologies industry, is now to run from 7 to 11 September 2020 in Munich, Germany.
