The acquisition underlines Ahlstrom-Munksjö's commitment to the electrotechnical paper business.

Ahlstrom-Munksjö has acquired the electrotechnical paper business from Germany's specialty paper manufacturer Kämmerer. Through the acquisition Ahlstrom-Munksjö will expand its paper offering in the area of semiconductor papers used in special applications such as high-performing power cables and transformers

With a reinforced offering, Ahlstrom-Munksjö would further improve its customer service and expertise in this sector, the company said. In addition, it will allow the company to better serve the increasing demand for insulation papers in the power industry.

Ahlstrom-Munksjö sees big potentials for the electrotechnical paper business. According to the company, "the electrification of society will require higher grid capacity and decentralized power generation and electricity grids, which will drive new investments and expansions as well as upgrades of existing distribution grids."
