Ahlstrom-Munksjö has announced its intention to buy Brazilian decor paper mill Caieiras and invest €9m in two mills in France and Germany.
Ahlstrom-Munksjö has entered into an agreement to acquire MD Papéis’ Caieiras decor paper mill in Brazil of the Formitex Group for €100m on a debt-free basis. The company believes the Caieiras mill to be an "excellent match" since the product offering of both companies significantly interleave. Furthermore Caieiras mill is located in the vincinity of Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s existing production plants in Jacarei and Louveira.
Ahlstrom-Munksjö furthermore announced plans to invest €9m to improve production and efficiency at two European plants. €5m will be spent to enhance the quality of pre-impregnated decor papers produced at its Dettingen plant in Germany, while €4m will be invested to rebuild a converting line of sterilization wrap being produced at its Pont Audemer plant in France.
