The proposed acquisition of Hebei Minglian will increase Ahlstrom-Munksjö's decor paper capacity by 20% and strengthen its position in the growing Chinese market.

Ahlstrom-Munksjö plans to take over Chinese decor paper manufacturer Hebei Minglian New Materials Technology for €60m debt free. The company signed a non-binding agreement with Minglian's majority shareholders. The transaction was subject to due-dilligence and final and binding transaction agreements, Ahlstrom-Munksjö explained. Closing of the transaction is expected for the first quarter 2020.

Ahlstrom-Munksjö's Decor business comprises five production plants in Brazil, France, Germany and Spain and had net sales of €452m in 2018. The company mainly produces decor paper for laminated furniture, flooring and interior applications.
