Amcor delays Bemis takeover citing US government shutdown

25 Jan 2019 −

Due to the partial shutdown of the US government Australian packaging giant Amcor has pushed the closing date of its takeover of Bemis to the second quarter.

The $5.25 billion transaction was initially expected to close in the first quarter of 2019.

"In the United States, antitrust approval and completion of shareholder meeting documentation review by the US Securities and Exchange Commission have been delayed due to the partial US government shutdown," Amcor said in a statement.
