APP to start its new FBB machine in Guangxi next year

Mill's total board capacity to rise by 1.8 million t in the foreseeable future.

Asia Pulp and Paper (APP) is to start operating its new big cartonboard machine at its Guangxi Jingui Pulp and Paper mill in Quinzhou in China next year. Valmet said that it would supply the board machine which is supposed to be the world’s fastest coated board making machine. The new PM 2 will produce folding boxboard with a basis weight range of 190-330 g/m2 and will have a wire width of 8,850 mm. The design speed of the machine will be 1,450 m/min and the daily capacity about 3800 t.

Two years ago APP announced that it was going to boost output capacity at its Guangxi mill in the coming years from 3.9 to 5.7 million tpy. APP that its expansion plans include two new machines for virgin fibre board with a total capacity of 1.8 million tpy.
