Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill idles kraftliner PM 2 for rebuild

Rebuild of PM 2 to increase containerboard production capacity at the Novodvinsk mill by 20%.

Russia's pulp and paper company APPM (Arkahangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill) has idled production on the containerboard machine PM 2 in mid-January for rebuild. Operations were stopped in order to complete the second phase of the extensive machine and automation upgrade provided by Valmet.

PM 2 has a web width of 6.3 m. Once the rebuild work is completed, the machine will run at operating speeds of 800-1,000 m/min, depending on the paper basis weight, producing some 300,000 tpy of kraftliner and semichemical fluting.
