Baden Board kicks off production of grass fibre-based board

The company plans to ramp up output of Grass Print board grade to 20,000 tpy by 2020.

Baden Board has started the production of grass fibre-based board. According to the company's management, production of the new board grade that contains 40% grass fibre started at the end of January. The company intends to increase the output of the Grass Print board grade to 20,000 tpy by 2020.
Baden Board, the former Smurfit Kappa board mill in Gernsbach, houses a single board machine with an annual capacity of 150,000 tpy of recycled board. The grass pulp is currently supplied by Creapaper, but Baden Board is planning to produce the feedstock on its own premises in the long term.
