Belarus partners with China to build new board mill

23 Feb 2012 −

Belarus partners with China to start cartonboard production at the Geroi Truda paper mill in Dobrush in the Gomel region. The investment project sees the installation of a board machine with an annual production capacity of 200,000 tpy of solid bleached board (SBB) and folding boxboard (FBB). The credit line worth approximately $350m will be provided by the China Devlopment Bank between 2012 and 2014. A corresponding decision has been signed by the Belarus government on 20 February.
According to government sources, Dobrush Paper Mill will be the first facility in the region to produce virgin fibre board for the food, healthcare and cosmetics industry. Some 70% of the production volume is to be exported, especially to Russia where demand is estimated at one million tonnes per year, it is learnt.
