Billerud Korsnäs halts production at Karlsborg

A fire broke out at Billerud Korsnäs' Swedish site in Karlsborg. Kraft paper and market pulp production is currently down.

Billerud Korsnäs was forced to halt production at its Karlsborg plant in Sweden. The company reported that a fire broke out in one of the buildings at the site in the night between 5 and 6 September. The causes and the extent of the damage have not yet been determined. It is therefore not yet clear when production will be resumed. No-one was injured in the fire.

The Karlsborg plant produces sack and kraft paper as well as market pulp with an annual capacity of 300,000 t. It is one of Billerud Korsnäs' smaller plants. 400 people work at the site.
