Market player report more price cuts for brown recycled containerboard grades on the German market in April; white-top testliner still unaffected by downward price pressure.

Prices for brown recycled corrugated case material in Germany continue on a downward path in April. Market players explain this with high inventory levels at paper mills and reduced demand from the corrugated industry over the last weeks.

Several market experts believe it might prove hard for the paper industry to stabilise paper prices in May. There are more statutory holidays coming in Germany in May, which will reduce the number of working days at converters, it is said.

The market for white-top testliner continues to be unaffected by developments for brown grades. This segment is supported by online retailing, where several major shippers use white-top testliner, as well as good demand for fruit and vegetable crates, say EUWID respondents.
