Calmer market and stable prices for recycled CCM in Germany

After several hectic months, the market for recycled corrugated case material in Germany appears to be returning to a somewhat calmer state. Nevertheless, order intake remains high.

Some market participants say there has been a sudden calming of the German market for recycled containerboard since the middle of March, prompted by slowing order intake in the corrugated industry. However, containerboard manufacturers actually profit from this situation because they can now reduce overtime and carry out necessary work on their machines. No EUWID respondents expressed any worries about a general weakening of the market. Order levels had been coming down from an excessively high to a still very good level, everyone agreed.

Prices were rolled over from April into May. For the most part converters' attempts to get a price decrease failed. Paper mills are sticking to their set prices.
