Canfor extends maintenance stopp at Northwood pulp mill

Due to urgent repairs, Canfor has extended the maintenance stop at its British Columbian Northwood mill, resulting in an estimated production loss of 60,000 to 70,000 t.

Canfor Pulp Products has extended its scheduled maintenance outage on one production line at its Northwood NSBK pulp mill in Prince George, British Columbia. The extended outage would be used to repair a damage detected at one boiler during the maintenance stop, and would approximately amount to 70 to 80 days with a reduction in NBSK production of 60,000 to 70,000 tonnes, the company informed.

Before detection of the boiler damage, the production loss was estimated to amount to 15,000 t.

The Northwood pulp mill runs two production lines with a total capacity of 600,000 tpy of NBSK pulp. Production at the second NBSK line at the Northwood mill would continue, Canfor said.
