Capuano takes up role as Cepi chairman

Burgo's CEO Ignazio Capuano began his term as the new Chairman of the European paper industry association Cepi. The mandate lasts till end 2021.

Ignazio Capuano, Burgo group's CEO and Vice President of the Italian paper manufacturers' assocation Assocarta, was elected new Chairman of the Board of Cepi (Federation of European Paper Industries) last November. He took up the new role at Cepi on 20 January 2020, taking over from Karl-Henrik Sundström, the former CEO of Stora Enso.

In his career, Ignazio Capuano covered senior positions in the paper, and energy and environment industry in Italy. Before joining the Burgo in 2016, he served as CEO of cartonboard producers Reno de Medici.

"I am proud to take over the presidency of the European paper industry confederation with the recent announcement of the Green New Deal. [...] As Cepi Chairman it will be my job to continue the work already started towards the 2050 climate objectives, starting from the environmental results already obtained by the sector, always paying attention to the efficient use of our natural capital," Mr Capuano said.

Ignazio Capuano will serve as Cepi Chairman for two years until the end of 2021.
