Cascades acquires moulded pulp packaging manufacturers

Cascades will double its production of moulded pulp packaging with two acquisitions in the United States.

Cascades has announced the acquisition of two manufacturers of moulded pulp packaging in the USA. The total cost of the transaction amounts to $37.4m, according to a company release. With the purchase of Urban Forest Products, Brook, Indiana, and Clarion Packaging, Clarion, Iowa, the company will be able to double its production capacity of moulded pulp packaging.

The plants manufacture moulded pulp protective packaging that primarily serves the egg and quick service restaurant industries and have a combined workforce of just over 150 employees. According to Cascades, both Indiana and Iowa are two of the top three egg-producing states in the USA.
