Price reductions are the predominant issue in negotiations for caustic soda deliveries in the second quarter of 2019.

High supply and subdued demand in the starting quarter of the year have increased the pressure on caustic soda prices on the markets across Europe. Against this background, some buyers are demanding substantial price discounts for deliveries in the second quarter of the year.

Caustic soda manufacturers speak of sometimes "wild demands", but see themselves forced to respond to buyers' demands and reduce sales prices for deliveries as of April.
