CCM and cartonboard prices in the UK remain on an upward trajectory

Printing and writing paper producers busy in August

British packaging paper and cartonboard markets continued to experience buoyant prices in August amidst strong demand and recovered paper prices that were already high and sometimes still rising. Hefty fibre costs are also inspiring writing and printing paper manufacturers to raise their prices again in the near future. These producers are reporting brisk order intake and machines running at full capacity. Higher woodfree paper prices are also being sought for deliveries from September or early October onwards. Publication paper prices are set to edge higher in the fourth quarter.

Omnipresent transport and logistics issues appear to be most severe in the UK: many market players are complaining of a dire shortage of lorry drivers and sometimes containers, too, leading to delivery delays and bottlenecks.

This article is a summary of EUWID's latest report on paper and board markets and prices in the UK. The full report and the EUWID Price Watch UK for August 2021 will be available to our subscribers from tomorrow, Wednesday 25 August.
