Refurbishments to improve boiler efficiency

French paper mill Cellulose du Pin of Smurfit Kappa Group (SKG) resumed production at the beginning of this week. A spokesman for the company confirmed that paper production started up again after the partially renewed boiler went into operation on the weekend of 24/25 March. This brought to an end the planned four-week technical downtime, which began at the end of February and during which extensive maintenance and refurbishment was carried out.

At its Facture plant, Smurfit Kappa Cellulose du Pin can produce around 500,000 tonnes of brown and white kraftliner. According to earlier company information, the technical shutdown reduced the mill's output by about 25,000 t of brown kraftliner and about 15,000 t of white kraftliner.
