A new price increase announcement for coreboard has emerged on the Italian market. After several price rounds this year, Industria Cartaria Pieretti now plans a €50/t hike from next month.

Italian company Industria Cartaria Pieretti (ICP) has announced a price increase for coreboard. The company intends to increase prices by €50/t from December and cites high recovered paper costs and strong demand for coreboard as the reasons for the hike. "Despite in October 2017 prices of recovered paper slightly declined [...], November sees a price increase, which projects a strong raw material rise - in the first quarter of 2018 - at historically high levels," ICP said.

EUWID market research shows that the price for recovered paper has been very volatile of late. After the high levels in July, OCC prices in Italy hit rock bottom in October, but then started to rise again at the beginning of November.

EUWID researches also show that coreboard prices have been increasing consistently during the year, with producers benefiting from good demand, and an unusually large number of prices rounds have been implemented.
