Demand for corrugated board and packaging in Poland remains good

The corrugated board and packaging sector in Poland is apparently still unfazed by the general economic pessimism. Producers were very satisfied with demand especially in April.

The generally pessimistic view of the European economy is not currently reflected in Poland's corrugated board and packaging production. Players surveyed in the middle of the second quarter of 2019 said they continued to be satisfied with demand for their products and the stable market development so far this year.

Following a decent first quarter, there was an enormous uptick in demand as of April, they said. At the end of May, quite a few key players reported that their production output had surpassed the level seen at the same point last year. Although some weekend shifts were cancelled and some corrugated board machines were shut down on bridge days, EUWID respondents described capacity utilisation in the industry overall as astonishingly good.
