Although demand for LIP has reportedly had a positive impact on sales, Euopean cigarette paper manufacturers say the market situation is not yet clear. There are several unresolved questions on what cigarettes with reduced ignition propensity will entail in practice, say EUWID respondents. In general, costs will remain as high as they have been in the past, one paper producer explains and adds that efforts are underway to hike prices in contracts for 2012 in negotiations to be held in the near future.
