DS Smith has presented a three-year investment programme to expand the group’s packaging capacities in Poland, Spain, and the USA.

When publishing its results for the first half of the current financial year (ending on 31 October 2017), the company announced its intention to build two new packaging plants in Poland and Spain and two more in the eastern USA.

The company’s plans are backed by a strong surge in global demand for corrugated packaging, which is expected to continue over the coming years. DS Smith sees many growth opportunities especially in the US market. In summer 2017, the company gained a foothold for growth by acquiring US paper packaging company Interstate Resources. Before the acquisition, DS Smith's activities in the USA were limited to the plastics segment.
